The Richmond Community
Choosing which college you are going to attend is important. You may have already researched various schools, checked out their programs, and learned about student life. However, have checked out the community surrounding your prospective colleges?
When you decide to attend college, you must consider the location of that school. Is the city big or small? Are there any outdoor activities? Is it a close-knit community? The list of questions could go on and on, but instead of asking you a list of questions, allow us to give you an inside look at the Richmond community that surrounds Eastern Kentucky University.
When you live in Richmond, Kentucky, you’ll experience a few things:
- A close-knit community: Richmond partners with EKU for many events. For example, members of the Richmond community recently participated in the 9/11 stair climb, which was hosted by EKU. City Fest is an annual event happening this week that brings local businesses to campus! When you attend EKU, you will find a new home in the Richmond community.
- Lots of fun: Richmond is home to bowling, movies, and a historic downtown. Check out local restaurants and coffee shops! Spend a day walking downtown to visit various local boutiques and stores. Richmond supports local businesses.
- Good location: Richmond is located only 20 minutes away from Lexington. If you ever get bored in Richmond, it’s a short drive to an even bigger city with different things to do! Also, if you are the outdoorsy type, Richmond is close to many outdoor hiking areas and places to visit. Berea, Kentucky is only about 10-15 minutes away from Richmond and is home to the Pinnacles, which is an excellent hiking location.
These are just a few reasons why Richmond is a great community. We would like to encourage you to do a campus visit and take some time to explore Richmond, as well!
We hope to see you soon!
Go Colonels!
