Richmond, Kentucky: Fun Activities
You’ve heard about our wonderful our close-knit Richmond community. While knowing the community is important, we know that there is a big question we’ve yet to answer: What fun things can you do in Richmond?
Eastern Kentucky University understands that the town you will be living in for four years is impactful on your college decision. Thus, we wanted to provide you with information regarding fun things to do in Richmond, Kentucky:
- The Richmond Centre: The Richmond Centre is located directly off of I-75/Exit 87. When you enter the Richmond Centre, you will find that there are a variety of places to eat, places to shop, and fun activities! Spend time watching a movie at our local theatre, visiting local stores, and listening to live music during the summer months! At the Richmond Centre, you’ll find plenty to do.
- Historic Downtown Richmond: Downtown Richmond offers places to shop, eat, and has a bakery with delicious treats! Spend time exploring this area and discover all that it has to offer.
- Visit parks: Richmond has several parks, including Lake Reba, E.C. Million Memorial Park, and Irvine McDowell City Park. Find your inner child at these parks, watch the ducks, and exercise! You can rent kayaks at Lake Reba and enjoy weekend movie nights in the warmer months!
- Hiking: Richmond, Kentucky is close to wonderful hiking areas in Kentucky! Visit Berea, where you can climb The Pinnacles. Berea is only a 15-20 minute drive south of Richmond and The Pinnacles offer a beautiful view. Also, Red River Gorge is located about an hour away! At Red River Gorge, you can spend the day hiking trails, visiting Natural Bridge, kayaking, swimming, and more!
- Visit neighboring cities: If you want to explore your adventurous side, Richmond is close to major cities including Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati. Spend time visiting and exploring all that these cities have to offer.
