Few mentors have a greater ability to help students plan for life after high school than school counselors. At EKU, we recognize the importance of your role. On this page, you will find information about EKU you can pass onto your students, as well as workshops and resources for you.

Join us for a School Counselor Workshop

Earn professional development hours, network with other counselors and EKU representatives, and enjoy a free lunch! All counselors and support personnel are cordially invited to attend one of several school counselor workshops this fall.

The program and material will be the same at each location. Multiple locations are offered for convenience only. All events are scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Applications Are Now Open for 2020-2021

Your student will need an official high school transcript, ACT or SAT scores, and $35 for an application fee.

100 Degree Programs

EKU offers traditional degrees like business, marketing, accounting and psychology. Students can also choose a more unique path, such as aviation, American Sign Language interpreting and PGA golf management. And we’re the state’s premier destination for “helping careers” such as nursing, teaching and emergency response.

Reduced Out-Of-State Tuition

Freshman Admissions Standards

Students who meet the state-established benchmarks below are guaranteed admission to the university as first-time freshmen.

  • ACT English: 18+
  • ACT Math: 19+
  • ACT Reading: 20+
  • SAT Evidence-Based Reading/Writing: 510
  • SAT Math: 510
  • High School Cumulative GPA (Unweighted): 2.5

There are alternate pathways available for students who aren't at this level. All applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.


All freshman applicants are automatically awarded scholarships based on their academic credentials when they apply to EKU. Get more information about our scholarships.
