Residency Criteria

For admission and tuition purposes, Eastern Kentucky University recognizes a Kentucky resident status and a non-resident status. When a student applies for admission to EKU, residency is initially determined based upon the permanent address and the location of the student’s most recent coursework.
Once an initial residency designation has been determined, a student may initiate an appeal by completing and submitting the residency application to the EKU Dean of Students Office. Please note that the residency appeal form requires a signature and must be notarized.
For the fall or spring terms, the residency appeal form must be submitted no later than 30 days after the first full day of classes. For a summer term, the residency appeal form must be submitted no later than 10 days after the first day of classes
